Looking forward to the market tomorrow! Here’s the menu:

Honeyspoon Blend Granola – Our signature blend of oats, almonds and hemp hearts coated in a delicious caramelized honey butter and toasted to golden, clumpy perfection.

Maple,Pecan and Olive Oil Blend Granola – This blend of oats, pecans, coconut flakes, sunflower seeds and pepitas, toasted with maple syrup and olive oil is a whole foods, vegan extravaganza!

Triple Coconut Blend Granola – Yes, that’s right – triple coconut! Baked with organic extra virgin coconut oil and containing coconut flakes, cashews and pumpkin seeds – lightly sweetened with maple syrup and coconut sugar – this granola is vegan, wholesome and just a touch tropical.

Brown Butter Hazelnut Brownies – the name says it all. Organic fair trade 70% dark chocolate, toasted hazelnuts and browned butter – all this and gluten free!

Sweet & Salty Wedges – a mixture of dates, almonds, pepitas, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and dark chocolate chunks finished with a sprinkling of sea salt flakes. This grain-free, energy-filled, versatile snack works with your morning coffee or your evening glass of red.

Salted Caramel Pecan Blondies – buttery blondies with toasted pecans and caramel bits, finished with a sprinkling of sea salt. Made with almond and coconut flours – completely gluten free and completely delicious.

Banana, Coconut, Millet Crunch Cupcakes with Maple Vanilla Buttercream – Banana cupcakes made with a blend of organic flours and sweetened with the delicious crunch of millet grains.  Topped with a maple vanilla buttercream, these cupcakes are a delicious – and wholesome – treat!

Apple Rhubarb Bakewell Tarts with Vanilla Bean Buttercream Icing – Bakewell Tarts are a traditional British sweet. Ours are made with gluten free amaranth, millet and quinoa pastry, filled with delicious local fruit and topped with almond frangipane and a dollop of vanilla bean buttercream icing.

Dark Chocolate, Cranberry & Pecan Granola Bars – Organic fair trade 70% dark chocolate with dried cranberries, toasted pecans and coconut in our base of local organic oats. Sweet and tart, with hits of chocolate deliciousness.

More Than You Ever Wanted to Know About…Bakewell Tarts

Anatomy of a Bakewell TartLots of folks who came out to the Historic Market yesterday (and thanks again everyone for making it a great first day) – were intrigued by the our Bakewell Tarts.  I thought I’d demystify the Bakewell Tart by taking a bite – what I will sacrifice in the service of science! – and labelling all the components that go into these delicious little morsels.  But first, a little history…

The Bakewell Tart is a traditional British sweet.  According to legend, it was invented in the 1860s at the Whitehorse Inn in the town of Bakewell, just south of Sheffield in Northern England.  A fruit tart was ordered, and the cook misunderstood and put the frangipane mixture on top of the fruit, instead of the other way around.  It was a busy evening at the Inn and there was no time to correct the mistake, so the tart was served as is, to much acclaim.

Our Bakewells differ a little from the original – we use a pastry made from wholegrain amaranth, millet and quinoa pasty, a filling of seasonal fruit, top it with a classic almond frangipane (a cake-like mixture of eggs, almond flour, butter and sugar with a touch of citrus), finish it all off with a dollop of smooth buttercream and finish it all off with a cute little garnish that hints at the yumminess inside.
